About Michelle

Michelle Alonzi has been dancing since the age of 4. She started learing ballet as part of a school programme in Muckross Park College and taking extra ballet classes after school hours. She started Ballroom and Latin American dancing at 6 and was soon competing at junior level in competitions across Ireland, Wales and the U.K. She was also a member of the Billy Barry Stage School and appeared regularly in shows in the Gaeity Theatre, Dublin.

Michelle, at 14, was the youngest pupil enrolled for full time dance classes in the Senior College Sallynoggin, studying Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Jazz. Outside of school she continued practicing Ballroom and Latin American dance and started competing at a professional level in Ireland, the U.K. and Europe.

After completing her studies and winning the Student of the Year award, she auditioned for The Urdang Academy of Ballet and Performing Arts at Convent Garden, London and was subsequently offered a scholarship for their Performing/Teacher Training Course. With her scholarship complete she returned to her first love, Ballroom and Latin American dancing and moved to Italy to further her career. This involved rigorous training, practising and teaching seven days a week, and competing throughout Italy and other European Countries.

Over the years Michelle has won numerious titles and awards including Junior Dancer of the Year, City of Belfast Championships, Youth Welsh and Amateur Championships, Youth England Championships and Amateur Dancer of the Year. She was a finalist in the All England Grand Prix and competed in the Italian Open and the Belgium Championships.

Michelle has appeared in films such as "The Magnificent Ambersons", "How Harry became a Tree", "High Binders", "The Actors" and "Roman Springs of Mrs Stone". She also appeared regularly in "Fair City" on R.T.E.

Michelle is now a qualified professional dance instructor, specializing in private dance lessons for couples and group classes in Stillorgan and the surrounding areas.
